“Nothing, Lucilius, is ours, except time… While we are postponing, life speeds by.” — Seneca, Letters to Lucilius 1.1, 1.2 (Richard Mott Gummere)

Micro-Lesson#

The Stoics considered time, not money, the genuine currency of a life. You can earn more money; you cannot earn back an hour. The friction you are about to remove in this program is, at root, the friction of wasted hours — the half-day spent on a task that did not matter, the evening surrendered to a feed. Discipline is not punishment; it is the refusal to spend your one non-renewable resource carelessly.

Exercise (15 min)#

For one full day — today — log every 30-minute block of time in three categories only: Deep, Maintenance, or Wasted. Don’t judge. Just log. At evening, count.

Journal Prompt#

If I had to cut one Wasted block from tomorrow, which would it be — and what would I put in its place?
